Taylor Made Organizing, Fortuna

“Helping people in business to be more organized and productive”

Taylor Made Organizing works with professionals in both the private and public sector assisting them in creating an office environment that supports them and the work that they do. Lisa Fryrear started Taylor Made organizing in 2007 while still working at a full time job. She completed training and obtained certifications as Professional Organizer and Productivity Trainer. Lisa provides clarity, focus, and freedom to her clients’ lives by implementing organization and productivity systems. In addition to one-on-one consulting, services include workshops and training seminars that accelerate productivity, promote skill development and improve employee collaboration.

Lisa was just starting her business in 2007 when she asked Business Advisor, Tina Nerat, for coaching on everything involved in starting a business, including identifying her customers, setting her prices, recordkeeping, branding, obtaining a domain name, setting up a new Web site, and attracting customers. During the startup phase, she attended numerous trainings, including Financial Basics, Start Up Basics, Marketing Basics, Business Plan Basics, Essentials of Business Web Sites, Essentials of Project Management, and Social Media.

Lisa has experience in bookkeeping; however, she needed assistance in implementing QuickBooks for her business recordkeeping needs. Having good records from the day she started business has proven very useful in keeping accurate records and creating financial reports.

Lisa also sought assistance to identify her target market and to find ways to reach those markets. SBDC has provided additional consultations on branding herself and marketing her services through the use of a Web site and other collateral materials. She connected with local businesses involved in providing organization and productivity. She learned how to use new technologies that would assist her in making presentations to effectively market herself and her business.

Lisa’s business has become more focused since its start. She has expanded her business to speaking engagements, business planning retreats, productivity training, and electronic productivity services. She secured a large contract with a major insurance carrier outside of the North Coast region, as well as contracts with Government agencies and local Accounting firms in her area.

Lisa experienced a good start of business in 2008 and has more than doubled her sales. As of 2009 she is working full time in her business. Lisa said, “It has been a true pleasure working with the SBDC.  What I have loved about working with my Business Advisor is that she did not always give me the words I wanted to hear but more importantly the words I needed to hear in order to really propel my business forward. SBDC guided me through the many obstacles and challenges I encountered in establishing, developing, and managing my business. One of the biggest things the SBDC has given me is the confidence to move forward with the plans I had for growing my business. To date my business is continuing to grow in directions I had not even imagined. I can’t imagine getting started without them.”
